Funding is awarded on a first come first served basis and typically students may not receive support from this fund more than one time per academic year or receive funding to attend the same conference multiple times. Exceptions may be granted for accepted presenter or invited speaker at subsequent conferences.

Students must meet the following criteria:

  1. Must be enrolled as a full-time (12+ credits undergraduate or 9+ credits graduate), degreeseeking student.

  2. Must be in good academic standing with the University and in good social standing with the CHECS office at the time of the request and attendance at the conference.

  3. Must submit a complete application at least 6 weeks prior to travel date. Late submissions will not be considered. Retroactive funding is not offered.

    1. To meet the “complete” criteria, students must attach all supporting documents as outlined in the “DOCUMENTATION CHECKLIST” section of this policy.

  4. A maximum of (4) four students will be approved to attend the same conference. If more than four students submit applications, the committee will consider the first four “complete” applications based on the date and time submitted.

  5. Funding may only be used for academic competitions and conferences related to the students’ field of study or student organization affiliation.

  6. Funding will not be awarded to support student’s job search or placement processing.

  7. For the safety and comfort of conference attendees, travel stipends will only support travel where overnight lodging accommodations are planned based on two same gender students per room when groups are traveling. Student and faculty room sharing is not supported.​
