Funding Categories
Invited Speaker: $500 (max award)
Invited speakers are students who have been issued a written invitation by a conference to speak or present notable research in their field of study. A copy of the invitation must be attached to the application.
Accepted Presenter: $400 (max award)
Accepted presenters are students who have submitted papers or work that has been accepted for presentation at an organized conference. A copy of the submitted abstract showing all contributing authors as well as confirmation of acceptance from the organizer must be submitted to qualify for this level of funding. If the acceptance letter has not been received make a note of such on the abstract. If the application is in good order, funding will be tentatively awarded and finalized once the acceptance letter is forwarded to the OSA.
Organizational/Department Delegate: $300 (max award)

Students who are representing a recognized CNU student organization as an official delegate. Official delegates are those who are required to attend the conference as part of their local chapter leadership responsibilities. Meeting attendance is generally outlined in the bylaws or constitution of the organization. A copy of the bylaws or constitution documenting the attendance requirement should be attached to the request.

Students appointed as a delegate by an academic department should include a copy of the faculty/department head appointment, attendance expectations and funding level offered by the department. An example of a department delegate is a student appointed to participate in a roundtable discussion or serve as part of an academic competition team. The maximum of four awards per conference applies. Teams are encouraged to prioritize funding needs at the group level as all applications are time and date stamped and funding awards are issued on a first come first served basis once submitted.
Organization Representative: $200 (max award)
This status applies to members or officers of a recognized CNU student organization attending a local, regional or national conference and to further the mission or improve operations of the student organization.

SPECIAL NOTE REGARDING REPRESENTATIVE STATUS: Students in leadership roles that are required to attend in accordance with bylaws should apply at the delegate level. In the event that a mixture of delegates and general representative applications are received during the same review period, priority will be given to students required to attend.
Academic Interest: $100
Students attending a conference because of personal interest related to the student’s field of study and are not attending on behalf of CNU or any of its departments or student organizations.
