  1. The club/organization must be a recognized student organization and be in good standing with the University. This means they must have met all eligibility requirements as outlined by the Office of Student Activities.

  2. New and Re-established clubs/organizations are eligible to apply for programming funds after four continuous months’ existence on campus. NOTE: At the discretion of the Small Grant Allocation Committee, organizations that are less than four months old may request start-up funding not to exceed $100. This funding must be used to help establish the organization and support its initial operation.

  3. The small grant application must be submitted within the required timeframe prior to the event. Please review the Small Grant Fund Schedule for application due dates and review times (in general eight weeks prior to event).

  4. The club/organization has attended met with Katie Winstead Reichner, Associate Director in the Office of Student Activities, to discuss the funding request.

  5. An accurate and up to date copy of the organization’s budget must be submitted as part of the small grant application/request. The budget should list intended expenses as well as anticipated revenue (dues, fundraising efforts, sponsorships, grants, etc.).

  6. For grant applications that support Event and Programming expenses, the event being considered must be submitted via VEMS and the space request should be confirmed

Eligibility

Ineligible for Funding

  1. Items prohibited by state law and/or university policy

  2. Organization Equipment that has a personal use (uniforms, etc.).

  3. Donations or charitable contributions of money or products.

  4. Revenue creation. “Start-up” funding for fundraising activities (t-shirts, supplies for bake sale, etc.) specifically for the organization’s gain is not fundable.

    1. NOTE: Funding may be available, at the discretion of the Small Grant Committee, for benefit events provided the funding granted is used for programming purposes.

  5. Personal Gain

  6. Retroactive requests. Event held or purchases made prior to receiving a decision about Small Grant funding.

  7. Events occurring off-campus unless for professional development reasons.

  8. Non-academic competitions that do not meet programming guidelines as articulated in this document.

  9. Any part of alcohol at an event to include bar fees or security required to host such an event​
