Your voice matters to Student Assembly! Here is an example of how we got your idea implemented!
Student Assembly is the student government at Christopher Newport University. Our mission is to capture the voice of our students and make their ideas possible. We will not rest until we do because we care about our Captains. We want everyone to remember that their voice is important.
In the Spring Semester 2016, over 1,000 students signed a petition to push sustainability initiatives on campus. Student Assembly immediately created a plan of action because we wanted their voice to be heard. Michael Bamisile, President of Student Assembly, met frequently with Ryan Kmetz, CNU's Sustainability Director, during the Spring Semester as well as the summer to move forward on this initiative. We are happy to announce the success in implementing the idea from our students for the 2016-2017 academic year and for years after! We received a $1,000 grant from Keep Virginia Beautiful for this initiative. With this grant, we purchased 6 impressive recycle bins which meet CNU's aesthetic standard. These impressive recycling bins will now be used at various events on campus (for example- tailgates and football games). This new CNU way of life could not be possible without are Captains.
Captains, continue to use your voice and share it with Student Assembly! We want to hear your ideas because YOU can promote change! Student Assembly wants to help you! WE LISTEN. WE CARE. WE SERVE.
